El Barrio Made Us: The Story Behind Segundo Barrio Supply Co.

Some brands are built in boardrooms. Ours was built in the barrio.

Segundo Barrio Supply Co. was born from two places that shaped two people — Oak Cliff, Dallas, and the Segundo Barrio of El Paso, Texas. Two neighborhoods. Two cities. One shared understanding of what it means to come from somewhere real.

When I met my co-founder Smiley, one thing was immediately clear — the man wore Dickies. Not as a statement. Not as a trend. Just as life. He wore them to work, he wore them when we went out. Dickies were just what you put on. That's how it was where he came from.

Smiley is from the Segundo Barrio — El Segundo, as those who know, know. Ask him where in El Paso he's from and that's exactly what he'd tell you. People knew what that meant. It was a rough area. But that roughness didn't break him — it built him into the strong man he is today.

Because the Segundo Barrio wasn't just struggle. It was life, full and loud and beautiful. It was crossing el puente every weekend to visit his grandmother in Juárez. It was las tardeadas — getting dressed and going out to dance at the clubs across the border. It was streets full of people all day and all night, like nobody slept, like the barrio itself never needed to rest.

He carries those memories — the people, the music, the atmosphere — everywhere he goes.

That's what this brand is. It's respeto for where we come from. It's workwear worn by people who actually work. It's Oak Cliff and El Segundo and Juárez and every barrio in between that raised someone strong.

Segundo Barrio Supply Co. is for la raza that knows exactly which part they're from — and wears it with pride.

Bienvenidos al barrio.
